Equitable Access

What is Equitable Digital Access?

Equitable digital access is "fair" access to digital technology.

How does an educator ensure that students have fair access to digital technologies?  Teachers can schedule times for students to use devices to access digital technologies. For example students can be allowed time to visit a technology center in the classroom. Some schools have Ipads in every classroom, but others may require devices to be checked out from the library media specialist.

Examples of digital technologies include social media, online games, and apps.  Teachers can use digital technologies during instructional time to engage learners. Students can be given access to Ipads or chromebooks for independent access, but teachers can also implement digital technologies using their Smartboard if accessible in the classroom.
